Why compact cardboard waste in Sheffield?
- Collective decarbonisation: Installing a baler or bin compactor plays your part in supporting Sheffield City Council to become a net zero carbon city by 2030. Baling your waste makes it more efficient to collect and transport by vehicles which leads in a reduction of carbon emissions.
- Lower cardboard disposal costs: Sheffield's Clean Air Zone (CAZ) can result in businesses in the city paying higher costs for cardboard disposal when their waste contractor uses an older vehicle which doesn't meet the emissions standards. This is because waste contractors sometimes pass the daily CAZ charge onto their customers. By crushing cardboard waste in a baler, businesses in Sheffield reduce waste volume and therefore need it to be collected less frequently.
FAQ's
1. How Much Space is Needed for a Cardboard Baler?
You’ll need adequate space in front of your baler so the cardboard bale can be safely ejected. You'll also need space to the side of the machine to operate the control panel. The exact amount of space you'll need will depend on the machine that you choose. We can help you decide if you have sufficient space for installing a machine when you book a free baler consultation.
2. Do You Offer Trial Periods in Sheffield?
QCR offer free baler trials to businesses in Sheffield so they can test the machinery we've recommend. A free trial with one of our cardboard balers can show you the benefits of using one before making the decision to go ahead, such as saving space, time, and money on commercial bins. Trials can be booked after a initial meeting with one of our experts at your site.
3. Can Wet Cardboard Be Used in a Baler?
Very wet cardboard can cause clogging and mess inside the machine so it isn’t recommended. Very wet cardboard waste can disintegrate making it difficult to handle so it'd far easier if you bale it dry.
4. How Do You Operate a Baler?
Every machine is different therefore we'll provide free staff training to your team on the day of installation. You can also book follow-up sessions with our baler trainers at your site free of charge during your hire period.
